Midsummer Eve at the stadium in PoznańBy: T. KrawczykThursday 24 June 2010 20:00
On the night of Wednesday 23 June a trial illumination of stadium and pitch took place at the Stadion Miejski in Poznań, with Poznanians invited to attend by the firm EURO Poznań 2012. On what was Midsummer Eve it was possible to see the lighting of some elements of the stadium membrane visible from the Bułgarska Street side. At 11pm the public were allowed into stand IV, from where a view of the stadium was available. The stadium turf was lit up by 300 Philips Arena Vision floodlights, each powered by 2,000 watts, the lamps mounted on technical platforms suspended beneath the roof trusses. The stadium lighting is adapted to the requirements of digital broadcasting of HD quality. The coloured illumination of the stadium membrane will be achieved with a focused LED lighting system: 195 projectors will be used for the purpose, with a power ranging from five to 50 watts depending on colour. The stadium was illuminated for around 45 minutes and stand IV was almost completely filled by the audience which gathered. Appearing among the spectators was Mayor of Poznań Ryszard Grobelny, who did not hide his satisfaction at the sight of the crowd watching the presentation.
